Chris wrote to us from Sweden, and he's looking forward to his assessment at McKinsey. Hopefully the free license we give us will get him some good practice and will be one of the tools for a way forward with McKinsey.
Here's what he wrote to us:
"I am a business student from Sweden looking for a career in management
consulting. Currently practicing with case books such as case-in-point, vault
guides, and ace your case. Also enjoying the online case workshop
(caseinterview.com). Have sent in my application to all the major consulting
firms and so far I have got an interview scheduled at ADL and McKinsey PST the
upcoming week. The McKinsey PST is the first stage so I searched the web for
some advice and found your site! Practice makes perfect, and hopefully I'll get
there by using numericalguru.com :)
Best regards,
Chris"
Well, Chris, all we can say is 'good luck and do well!' and we hope you'll crack the McK PST and ADL .interview. Your license key is on the way - and oh, by the way, thanks for visiting us!
As a side note, For those aspiring to getting into management consulting (called - management consultancy, strategy consulting) by and large the recruitment, whether for graduates or experienced, follows a standard case study process. Most case studies tend to have a numerical component that requires comfort and speed with numbers, charts and basic numerical concepts.
A while ago we wrote a post on numerical reasoning tests and how they help in consulting case interviews / tests, it might be worth taking a look if you're interested in this area
